Typically my birthday preparations revolve around which place I’m choosing to have to dinner and which club to hit afterwards. This year (like most others I’m sure), I find myself reflecting about my life, where I am, and who I want to be.
I wish I could say that I’ve reached an age where I figured it all out. But I guess that’s the beauty of life. It’s a constant cycle of emotions, learning, unlearning. All we can really do is live life everyday.
I’ve reflected on pieces of lessons that became a part of me.
- You will not be able to absorb and enjoy the greatest moments in life if you have not fully healed or become comfortable with yourself.
- Everyone gets pressured to be ‘someone’, but people will find you most interesting when you just be yourself.
- Life is getting short. As we are getting older, seriously just do what makes you happy.
- This story on Stan Lee: “I told my wife, Joanie, ‘I’m going to quit.’ But she said: ‘Why not write it the way you want to write it? If it doesn’t work, what’s the worst that can happen?”
- Support yourself like how you support your friends.
- It takes a village. There is no award for doing it alone. Ask for and accept help.
- “Smarty had a party, and no one came.”
- Do not be distracted by the ideals of success or the success of others.
- “The purpose of life is to discover your gift. The meaning of life is to give your gift away.”
